Hosting Options

Once your Ghost blog is online, it will come with a URL that is not very user friendly. Currently, we offer three options for how you can point your blog to a better URL:

Bring Your Own Domain

Choose this option if you already own a domain name. You will need to do some configuration once your Ghost blog is up; we will email you the details.

✔️
We recommend Bring Your Own Domain, it allows you to build your brand and is the most Search Engine friendly option.

If you don't have a domain yet, we'd suggest registering one with SquareSpace or GoDaddy as they are the most affordable and easy-to-use choices. We're not getting a commission; we have just found these the easiest to work with.

Please register your domain name before creating your account with us, once you have created your Blog you won't be able to change this.

Important note for AWS CloudFront users

If you want to host on a domain that is already linked to a CloudFront Distribution, please disable/delete or remove before completing the following steps. We use CloudFront to protect your Ghost instance, but CloudFront does not allow two different distributions to have the same domain name.

Alternatively, you can add your Haunted Host "Hosting" URL as an Origin to your existing CloudFront Distribution. Doing this means you will also not be required to verify your domain for SSL.

Sub Domain of HauntedHost.com - Coming Soon

This option is the easiest and cheapest way to get online, as you won't need to register and configure a domain name. You can choose your own sub domain, such as myblog.hauntedhost.com.

BYOD + Subfolder

This is a more advanced set-up that will require moderate technical skills to implement. The benefit is, especially for larger sites, this can provide many SEO benefits. You will need to provide the full URL for your blog.

An example option here would be www.my-store.com/blog

📈
Hosting in a Subfolder will provide the greatest SEO impact, but also require the most configuration on your part to function correctly.
